Partial Die Cutting Technique

Hello readers! Apologies for not posting in two months, but today I have a card for you displaying a partial die cutting technique and the Mama Elephant Cityscape die cut. I also use some new ink applicators called the ClarityStamp Stencil Brushes. Jennifer McGuire reviews these amazing tools here.

First, I die cut the cityscape die out of black cardstock but I achieved the partial die cut effect by placing the top cutting plate of my Big Shot machine only on part of the cityscape die. The plate didn’t cover the ending cut line of the die, so the city will look like it’s a continuous piece of cardstock.

Then I created a white top-folding cardbase and used my ClarityStamp stencil brushes to blend on some HA Soft Apricot ink, SSS Sunshine ink, and SSS Duckling ink using horizontal motions across the card front. After I finished ink blending, I adhered the cityscape piece to the cardbase.

For my sentiment, I die cut the letters from the MFT High Rise Lowercase Alphabet die set (unfortunately I purchased this a while ago and no store is selling them). I covered each letter with Versamark ink and embossed the letters with Ranger platinum embossing powder. Finally, I adhered the letters on the card.

And that’s the card for today! Thanks so much for stopping by!
